[TheForge] OT--Gas prices, gas shortages, price gouging?

Nah, Just naked capitalism at play.
Think of the profits when oil goes to $200 bbl and they have it there
waiting. This year's record profits will hold them in the meantime.
The US has plenty of natural gas for fuel and the technology is already
here. Conversion wouldn't be all that difficult.
The oil companies have vast lease holdings that remain undrilled and tested.
Like new nuke plants, new offshore drilling ought to be linked to
entirely cleaning up the old installations and their consequences first.
When we trade a few years of power for, say, some fisheries that could
go on feeding local folks for thousands of years...it's stupid and
shortsighted.
We have become masters of stupid and shortsighted it seems...pf
