[TheForge] low carbon sheet

Most appliances these days are powdercoated.
And, as far as I know, washing soda wont make much of a dent in
powdercoating.
Sandblasting doesnt work very well on it, as its so thick.
Professional powdercoaters usually burn it first, in a burn off oven
that is 1000 to 1500 degrees, charring the powder, then they sandblast
it.
So I would think that for any size piece that would be usable, it is
more work than its worth to try to use an old washer.
Really old washers were actually baked on glass enamel- which, also,
is tough to remove.

You can buy AK deep drawing steel from some of the auto body guys- I
know Dan Pascoe at Creative Billet in the northwest sells small sheets
mail order-

I believe AED in Indianapolis might still sell it as well-

Some of the panel beaters use steel, so they have sources- you could
look over at the metalshapers web site-

On second thought, FIRST find out whether the "enamel" is just paint.
Soak it in strong alkali - caustic soda or washing soda. Paint will
be gone pretty quickly in these, with no harm to the metal.
