Starting with 2 edge welded pieces ( Elizabeth's idea was
brilliant and ballsy), at a jolly yellow heat, The form puffs
right up and some amount of stretching ( buldging) occurs....but..
It seems that once you reach a round cross section, it requires a
whole lot more pressure to get much more stretching.
I've also tried spot heating with a torch which works to localize
the effect....but again, once i reached a round cross section
continued heating just lead to a perforation. It's even
surprisingly difficult to pop out small dents that way.
Perhaps i chickened out too soon...the prospect of very hot
flying steel fragments kept growing in my mind as i pushed the
heat and pressure upwards.
Anybody had a different result?
I really like steel inflatables....pete
