I bought a box of 3" 3M Radial Bristle Brushes on ebay on the 
recommendation of my neighbor. He is working on a large welded tree 
sculpture made from 5/16 stainless rod (a lot of cracks to clean). He 
says these do a really nice job.

I think these are really nice. Be sitting down when you price them, though.
