	One thing: if the mushroom has cracks and splits in it, you will have 
to get the tip to welding heat or forging will simply cause the cracks 
to propagate.  One thing you can do is gas weld the cracks shut.  You 
may not even need to use any filler  Just  establish a weld puddle to 
"absorb" the cracked areas, and then reforge.
