Hey Rick,

  I missed part of this conversation, but the first thought that comes to my
mind on the forge is that if you use a coal forge to heat long stock, your
only going to achieve a couple inches of heat at a time, where as if you use a
gas forge that the stock passes through, your going heat whatever is in the
forge, and depending on the size (length) of the gas forge that can be 20+" of
heat at a time...could let you do a lot more work in a shorter period of time.
 Just my thought.
