Thanks to those who offered suggestions on how to handle long stock. The
idea of in- and-out feed supports for the power hammer, forge and anvil make
sense. I like the idea of positioning the anvil in-line to facilitate
straightening and Mike's idea for a rotating stock support is innovative,
but I thing getting a long piece into the chain loop might be a hasstle.
One area I am still puzzling over is heating the stock. Without a conveyor
table set up, I think getting stock in and out of a gas forge would be real
hard on the forge. But perhaps this is the way to go--put every thing in
line: forge, power hammer, anvil and hossfeld. Then put some guides in and
out of the forge to keep the stock away from the refractory. Right now, I
would probably use the coal forge because it is open.
