[TheForge] Any recommendations on cutoff saws? Brands, etc?

There is an old (made in USA) Rigid horizontal band saw behind a lawn mower
shop up in rural Georgia. The guy's chickens are roosting on it, but he says
he is going to replace the motor "one a these dayz". With a new motor &
guide bearings it would work another 50 years. Rigid used to be the best 30
years ago, but their old motto is probably politically incorrect now. He
also has a 200# Fisher sitting at an angle on a rotted stump, and a couple
post vices and misc other stuff just for decoration, I guess. It is
frustrating to watch what could be serviceable tools going to waste.

I, too, have a Rigid from Home Despot. In my home shop it has held up well
for several years. With a little patience it will cut through 1-1/4" square
4140 and 7/8" sucker rod. But I don't use it every day.

So far the Rigid I picked up at Home Despot has lasted longer than the
roybi? (spelling, didn't last long enough to remember) Use good wheels, if
they stop cutting they are glazed, break the glaze (Brick, stone, washers
on bolt loose enough to spin, etc) then start again
