Yes!!!  There are pores in the sense that there is open space in the iron matrix.  Heating the matrix makes it expand, allowing for migration of elements.  Silver is used as a lubricant in some applications.  It is set on top of the wear surface and the wholething is heated to about 1500 degrees.  The silver melts and flows into the iron matrix, so that, as the iron wears away, new silver lubricates the surface.
