Actually, it does ( or did) have a hole for shearing up to half inch 
rounds.    I busted the hole out shearing a high carbon steel bar.   The 
downside of using scrap.   Would have loved a slot for angle iron.   But 
once again, it was cheap.  I have a pneumatic cylinder sitting next to 
it waiting to be installed so that I can mount it on wheels and get rid 
of the long lever bar.  It really is handy for the price, but I have NO 
doubt the german ones woudld redefine utility for me.
