[TheForge] Black finish for galvanized

I am working on an exterior railing that will be installed 
near the ocean.  I am looking seriously into having it hot-
dipped.

Does anyone know of an etching or wipe-on compound that will 
turn galvanized steel to a dull black?  And, what about the 
durability of same?
