Jerry,

I am a nurse and you want to be the first case.  That's the best time.
You'll have to have nothing by mouth from midnight on so its best to be the
first case.  Those of us who work in the hospital always want to be the
first case.

It will be a good thing to have behind you.  I worked in the OR for 18
months and I always tell my patients who are facing surgery what a special
place it is.  I didn't ever see a patient that wasn't treated like I'd like
my mom treated.  Its a special kind of place, I guess because we all know
that sooner or later it'll be our turn to be the patient.  The two times
I've been in the OR I've been comforted by that knowledge.
