When I had just Kaowool lining my forge I couldn't seem to get it very
hot. As soon as I replaced the inner layer with Durablanket (hope that's
the right name- a pal gave me some...) the effective temp went way up,
and the color of the inner surface of the forge went from light orange
to yellow.
When I painted on the plistix layer, it went to a white color and forge
welding became a snap. Things heat up much faster, too.
Odd thing is, sometimes I get a green flame and have to back off and let
it cool. Wonder what that could be about?
