If you sell your work, it's probably more efficient to
buy the steel.  In forged items, the materials only
represent a small portion of the price of the finished
product.  I have't figured it out lately with the
inflated steel prices, but a few years ago, it was
only 5-10% depending on if you used hot or cold
rolled.  Additionally, the price of the materials is
passed along to the customer.
