[TheForge] Scrounging small stock

Election time is near, and I'm oogling all those campaign signs supported by
an inverted, squared-off U-shaped piece of "wire". That wire turns out to
be about 1/4" stock. I've used some from some years back to make a couple
chandeliers, recently, and other stuff before that.
Question is, are they worth the scrounging? (After the election, of course!
Why you wouldn't think I'd do such a thing pull up Bush/Cheney signs BEFORE
the election, would you?) Anyone know easier pickings for small stock like
that?
I really should get around to pricing the stuff, but am leery of doing so,
now that prices are so far up.
