Excellent technique and it certainly makes for a stronger
joint than those which I recently offered. Use 36 ga
copper sheet. Joint will be perfectly strong enough but
the thin sheet will not add enough thickness to be noticeable.

Whyzat? I would tack at the two ends, then starting from the
middle, work my way toward each end in turn. Leaves both
hands free and allows for applying pressure to the soldered
joint while still fluid.
