I'd like to get some pictures and a bit more info on this one. I recently
tried to repair a tractor manifold for a friend, without any success. Can
you pass on any specifics on where to find this stuff? I'd appreciate it.

I'm no expert, but we did some comparable work on cast iron anvils
recently - "buttered" them with nickel rod, then welded on steel to
replace broken parts of the steel plate. Seems to have worked quite
well. Lower investment cost if you already weld.

To-day I witnessed a demonstration on building up cast iron with a Ni
spray.A torch is the method of delivery. A bottle of Ni (nickel)was
screwed into this custom set-up.
11# of acetylene 20# oxy. The torch has a trigger, when pressed the
powder comes out with the flame. The torch tip looks like a welding tip

with a O2 trigger on it.

The piece was one half of an old crank style blower. One of the ears
was
broken off where the two half s screwed together. First the piece was
heated up to about 400* F. Then this slick
torch started to do its thang. The end product is a brandy new shiny
tab. He wanted $ 500.00 for the set-up. I can post pics if you want to

see the process. I thought it was rather pricey.
If I did lots of cast welding and happen to have 500 clams I'd have
one.
