Why not use something light like 10 wt in the winter and change to 30 wt 
in the summer?
Many compressors, older ones at least, depend on the "splash system" of 
oil distribution like the early Chevy 6, 216s did; so low enough 
viscosity is important.
I avoid detergent oil for compressors...collects moisture....Pete F
