Dave, you should really give TIG a try, with a foot control for current it
is magic !!

If you have ever done any gas welding or torch brazing then you will find
you can pick up TIG very easily.

Do you know anyone who has a good TIG set up?  Go and give it a try.  Works
great for steel but you can
weld almost anything using TIG.  (most metals).
