Hate to point this out, cause it is dull, but there is not much to the 
center section of one of those shafts.  If he hasnt destroyed the cable 
inside, it is notihing more than a tube with appropriate bushings.  Cut 
the ends off and  weld them to a new center section and you have a high 
end weedeater back in service.
