I have one of those also that I rebuilt and yes the pan was cracked and I had 
tried to weld it but the bottom is very thin and cools real fast so just kept 
cracking.I ended up lining the bottom of the pan with 3000 degree furnace 
cement and found it works real well.You just need to give it time to dry 
out.If you fire it you will find it bubbles..For the belt I had some thin 
leather and made a new one and where it joins I rivited it together and  it 
works fine.I also had no handle and lacking anything suitable in the wood 
department I used a section of the main beam of an Elk antler
which looks real good.There is a pic of it on my web page in the tools
