[TheForge] Viking Padlock

I'm planning to make one of the padlocks in the Mastermyr Find. I've
been looking at the information in the Mastermyr Book on the padlocks.
Have looked at some other information on locks and talked to several
people. Still have some questions/decisions to make before I start.
Hoping someone out there can give me some advice.

1. Lock Spring(s) - I understand the basic concept of the shackle end
that extends into the body of the lock has a spring(s) attached to its
end that compress to slide through the top of the lock and then open to
capture the shackle inside the lock body. A key inserted from an opening
in the bottom of the lock has a hole in it that slides up over the
spring(s) compressing it so the shackle can slide through the top of the
lock. Also one or more wards are attached to the top of the lock body
extending into the lock and require a key to have additional holes to
accommodate them. The text says the padlock has 3 springs and the
picture seems to show two parts to the shackle extending into the lock
body. The question is why/how are there 3 springs attached to the
shackle? Most examples I can find only show the shackle with a "v"
shaped spring forge welded to it's end.

2. Text says the lock body is made of plate held together with brass
solder. Would all six pieces of the lock body(top, bottom, 4 sides) be
separate pieces or would some have been cut and folded from a single
piece with only some edges being brass soldered?

3. Would the cylinder socket to receive the shackle on the side of the
lock be a separate piece brass soldered on or be formed by bending the
middle of that side into a cylinder shape?
