I order 1/8" pipe from a lighting place (Kirk Lane) .It can be ordered in a
number of lengths and is a little thinner than black pipe. The threads are
straight cut and work with 1/8" electrical fittings.I did a chandelier that
was about 5' in diameter.Ordered a longer length pipe.Used the one threaded
end for the socket.Bent the arm ,cut to lenght, drilled a hole in the hub and
welded the arm into the hub from the inside of the hub.Nice clean joint.

Subject: [TheForge] chandelier arms

I am working out the details for a commission to make two chandeliers
similar in design. One is 48" dia. round shape the other is 48" x 24" dia
oval shape. These are typical elegant pieces with long spindly arms. I am
wondering what to make the arms from? Seems like 1/8" or 1/4" black iron
pipe would be too......clunky. Any ideas welcome.
