It works great for what it's for.
Specifically designed to be on the outside surface of an air cavity, it
insulates (bubbles) and reflects heat back into the structure. If it doesn't
have an air space on the inside, it's just 1/4" of insulation. In the right
application, it claims up to R14 or so.
We're used to using insulation just like a blanket on a bed, but this is
designed to work differently. Kind of like those blankets (Shake and Bake)
that they give forest firefighters. You make a little tent out of them and
you may survive.
