[TheForge] A36 vs A50

Hi guys,

Last night the guy that I detail steel for part time, told me that it is
becoming the industry standard for the arcitects and engineers to specify
A50 for structural steel instead of A36. He said that for now A50 is only
available in beams and channels and not bar stock. Of course my reaction was
that when A36 came out it was the same, now that's all you can get unless
you special order 1018 and pay through the nose for it. I'm wondering how
long it will be before A50 takes over the mild steel market.

Do any of you have a feel for what's happening in the steel industry? If A50
does become the industry standard for all shapes it may give PI a boost.
