I love my EQC auto hood it goes to shade 12, that plus a didy/gold lens in
front and the regular clear one, and I am good to go. I do lots of marine
aluminum welding, most of it at well over 300 amps and usually at very close
range. I find that I am more likely to get flash burn or the equivalent
from the arc coming around the hood, and have retrofitted most of my hoods
to have a leathercollar and ear covers.
