[TheForge] Aluminum?

        Would anyone have a piece of 2 1/2" aluminum shafting 6 inches long
they'd care to part with?  I need to make a backer plate for a stone to ride
on a belt grinder/polisher and the prices I've been getting from my supplier
are rediculous for a small section.
        If you had a foot of the material I'd like to have that much so I
could make two other backing discs for a project I want to try out on an old
bench grinder to clean light guage plate edges.
        The steel yard wanted $85 for it, I see McMaster Carr wants $50 for
a 12" section........does anyone have a drop they'd part with that would be
more affordable?
