[TheForge] Shrink fitting steel to wood

Im working on some canons for a customer and want to shrink fit steel bands
to the ends of the axles, these will be around 4" dia or 100mm, if I can get
100mm id steel pipe that is 6mm or 1/4" wall what would be a good tight fit
to turn the axles to so when the bands are applied and shrunk they never
come off? Should I use any type of grease under these bands when applying?
the customer seems to think so but I didnt think it was a good idea.
