Kirsten-
to those who have heard me beat this drum before, I apologise.
But I must again recommend Ron Fournier- sheet metal craftsman
extraordinare.
He teaches workshops at his shop in suburban Detroit, not too far away from
you, and I think you would really enjoy it. Besides, doesnt Bill owe you for
that trip to Japan he took...
Ron has 30 years or so experience building every part of race cars from
scratch, but his specialty is shaping sheet metal, and he teaches hand
hammering, hammerforming, and english wheel techniques, along with gas
welding aluminum, and some tig welding.
When I took his class, there was a group of car guys, along with a woman who
taught metalsmithing at cranbrook. He gets 3 or 4 artists a year in his
classes.
Check his website at www.fournierenterprises.com
His workshops are $750 and well worth it. He is an excellent teacher, and
you come out of it actually able to do it, although nowhere near as
effortlessly as Ron.
