        I don't believe you'll find straight polarity to penetrate as well
as reverse polarity at all.  I'd have to argue that they are totally wrong
(those that say flux cored penetrates better than gas wire).
        When your stating the wire runs reverse of what it should be for gas
wire......reverse polarity is what gas wire runs on.  Straight polarity is
what flux core runs on (most applications).

In wire and stick welding:     reverse polarity = penetration (electrode
positive)
                                           straight polarity = deposition
(electrode negative)
