Paul, My experience on using cam followers for slide replacements ends up in
failure as the cam follers dent the beams as there is to many pounds per
square inch with the small surface area of the follower wheel compared to a
slide set up.

I saw the earlier question, and I will verify from my own experiments years 
ago that Ralph is correct, and also throw in that cam follower shafts are 
very hard and brittle and snap off at the shoulder after a few hundred 
blows.  I have tried them for several different applications on power 
hammers and ended up not trusting them enought to use them in a production 
hammer. Your experience may vary...  ;-)
