A sad story in American Enterprise. An impoverished Bantam invented
the Jeep for the US army on their own dime and at considerable financial
risk. Army considers it superior to all of its much larger competitors,
but they assign the build contract to thise very same competitors.
Bantam got the order for the trailors as a consolation prize. That
must have really sucked. Unfortuneately, nothing was really patentable
on it.
