[TheForge] left-handed pipe thread?

Hi Terry
The primary use for left hand threads in a mixed configuration on each end
of one fitting is to eliminate the use of a union. if you have a piece of
pipe with a left hand and a right hand thread and two fittings that
correspond aligned at each juncture, the tightening of the right hand thread
will also tighten the other end instead of unscrewing it.
This a very secure method of joining pipe to eliminate the use of unions,
but as you can imaging it is rather cumbersome.
The use of exclusive left hand thread as in fuel gas hoses does not carry
over to the fittings that they connect to. The regulator nipples are
generally a right-hand 1/4" thread and the hose end is an 'A'or 'B' style
hose connector.

Subject: [TheForge] left-handed pipe thread?
hello;
i really have to ask where left-handed pipe threads are
used. i was visiting a friend today and he was moaning about
a fouled up pipe fittings order. most of the fittings have
left-handed pipe threads. some of the 90 degree elbows have
one end left-handed and the other end is right handed. nearly
ever pipe coupling is left-handed at one end and right-handed
at the other end.
