Take both pieces to a grinder or bring the grinder to them and in some
darkness test, looking at the sparks, then with a known piece of steel grind
on it to compare. Wrought iron will be dark and no burst of carbon spark
where as the fork section should have at least .45 carbon or more showing a
good star burst. This is much easier to do than explain

Subject: [TheForge] fork material
I made a carpet spike to fit on a fork lift, I had to cut the Horizontal
portion
off to make it work. Now I have this brand new 100# or so wedge . I have not
found reference to this "FORK " in the machinery's hand book.
NEW TOPIC:
I have been given some very old ( for AZ. ) re-bar . Someone just tore down
a useless old historical building, The bar is twisted and varies from .50"
to 1.50"
could this be Wrought Iron?
