All of the ones I've seen had no handle per se. Typically they were just a
straight piece of steel approx. 3/16 x 3/16th, about 12" long, pointed at
one end and a simple loop at the opposite end. Im assuming you are wanting
a shish kebob type skewer. These were usually in sets of 6 to 10 and
accompanied by a hanger/hooks to hang them together.
I have scanned a photocopy of a book with 4 sets dated from the 18th
century and posted them to the photoaccess "anything else" page. Hope this
