Before doing any more brazing, why not try to make a small chisel? If it 
works you might get more characteristics for us to guess at. Also try 
heating the area near the braze or where your breaks are to temper the heat 
zone you seem to be forming and spread the zone over a larger area. Also 
what size are the crystals where the break is?
