I'm not a Blacksmith yet...LOL.. but I am in heart and will be in
practice as soon as my plate is cleared, I have " served " in machine
shops. However, if I have understood this thread correctly, (and
probably haven't), you are talking about lateral motion presenting an
additional resisting force.
Why can't there be installed roller bearings in the "extreme flex"
positions of the press.. when forces get so great as to combine press
resistance with load resistance, the bearings are contacted and over
come that.
Again... not an economical resolution of a problem, just a factual,
"wouldn't this work", question...
