It probably would make you look hungrier
than you wish to appear, for the sake of
any future negotiations. 

Can you find out in some subtle fashion
if the contractor has a reputation
either way as to promptness of payments.

Never, I repeat NEVER, be among the last
payments going out on a job.
I have observed that, if anyone is going
to wait, it is the last man with a truck
in the driveway. By that point, if there
will be a financial /budget crunch, it
will have arrived. This is also the
point at which a customer has only the
payments as a financial hold on the
general contractor. Similarly if the
general is playing the job too close,
and is a little crooked, he will make
payments during a job , in order to
avoid job site gossip, but might make
the last payments off of the down stroke
from the next job.

If you feel comfortable with the
general, then mail or fax your bill the
day that the lamps should be delivered.
My contracts all say "Payment is due
upon completion of the above listed
work." Then expect to wait 30 days.
