[TheForge] Fire pot depth - opinions wanted

I  heard from a smith in Hastings, MN who welded up a firepot out of
3/4" mild steel.  He used it for coal.  It burned out in less than a
year.  Buy a good cast iron firepot, especially if you are going to
use coke, which burns hotter than coal.
