I have been following the thred on the fire pot the last couple of days and
find it rather intresting. In that I'm going to be buliding a fire pot
shortly for a forge I am building for the Boys and Girles Brigade youth
ogiazation her in the Fox Vally in Wisconsin.
I am going to construct it out of one inch thick cold rolled steel. the
dimension are as follows, width is nine inches by twelve inches long by four
and a half inches deep. The bottom is three and a half inches wide by six
and a quarter inches long, and a one inch lip all around to hold it on the
top of the forge. there is a three inch diameter hole cut in the middle. the
taper is one hundred and twenty degrees.
I will scarf all the edges and lap and fillet weld with 7018 rod. As
this is going to be a coke pot it will be interesting to see how it will
hold up under all that heat.
I will also be teaching fundamental blacksmithing at the Brigade for the
Boys and Girls as a hobbies club next fall.
    Tell me thoughts and comments?
Yours, Respectfully
Chuck Osier
