Yes and no.
As others replied, A36 for hot rolled, 1018 for cold rolled sometimes.
But remember, the big difference ( besides demensional control ) is
work hardning from the rollers.
A36 is not anymore 36 ksi tensile as origonally designed,
but closer to 60 ksi. Also nearlly matches the 6010 rod.
So if it was a 60ksi ( with carbon content to match ) steel, then
work hardened,  you could experiance the brittleness or at least
the " resist" you get in cold roll.
Use CR square for twist.
