We always hear how good your medical system is and there is some talk that we will have to follow your model because of free trade. Well if it is better I have no problem. We pay for our medical, out of our taxes, I think it is fair and if you can believe it or not, it is the one tax that I don't mind paying. The way I figure it, I do my part now and pay, sure I might not be getting much out of it now, but in the future it is there if I need it. I also know that my neighbor is being looked after no matter what their individual circumstance may be, everyone is treated as equal. After reading your thoughts I think that I would rather keep our present system, I have enough worries being self empolyed.
There is very little wrong with the US health care /
medical system that wasn't incurred by politicians. In spite of
the pols, we still have the finest doctors, procedures, and
facilities on the planet, bar none. No hospital or clinic can turn
you away for emergency services - even if it's just a headache.
They *may* just stabilize you and transport you to another
hospital, or even to a prison ward (gunshot wounds until a cop can
get a statement from you).
But no person in the US, even NON-CITIZENS can be denied
critical care.
Yes, the hospital will bill you for the treatment - why
shouldn't they? You DID receive their services. But even there
they are under a load of constraints against *how* they may try to
collect, and what punitive / civil actions they can take. It's not
like maxing out your Visa Card or skipping mortgage payments.
