[TheForge] heating copper in a forge

Rumor I heard once was that if you wanted to have fun with someone getting
ready to forge weld, all you had to do was to throw a penny into the fire.
Somehow the copper in the penny was supposed to keep a forge weld from
working.  Don't know why, could just be an old wives tale.  I think the
problem was corrected by tearing the fire apart and starting fresh.

somewhere i heard that you shouldnt heat copper or other metals in the same 
forge as steel ... is there a difference between a coal or propane forge ...

i hammer a little steel but also work with copper ... any ideas.... thanks
