I can tell you probably how to use this item.
The magic eye tube should be sort of like an S meter.
If you have function switch in normal position it works as a WWV receiver
for 5 or 10 MHz.
The fine tune control varies the crystal control local oscillator to get it
dead on frequency.
In the 440 or 600 Hz mode audio band pass filters pick out these two
standard tones and send them to the audio output.
There should be some fine adjustment pots on the back associated with the
active audio filters.
In the beat carrier mode the front panel input is mixed with the input from
antenna to produce a beat frequency.
This allows you to set your 100kHz calibrator very precisely by using
the magic eye tube to observe very low
beat frequencies.
It function is similar to the LA800 that I have but it is not nearly as
complex.
The LA800 has very narrow IF filters that allow you to compare input
signals against a
WWV signal even though the WWV signal is very weak. It also has a
oscilloscope display that will produces
a beam that sweeps in a circular pattern. It rotates clock wise if your
local reference is high in frequency and
CCW if it is low.
It also reproduces the audio tones as well.
Each cycle per second of the magic eye tube corresponds to 1 part in 10
million at 10 MHz and 2 parts in 10 million when
receiving the 5MHz WWV signal.
