A quicker way, if you aren't squeamish, is to wet your finger and 
wipe it across the plastic. That almost always discharges the plastic.

It's also why I always clean a meter face that I've just 
bought......  who knows what disease(s) the last person who did that 
by spitting on their finger had   lmao
