Actually, news and chat groups are a known source of spamming
targets.
In this case... Last month, Mr.Peter Manfre <pmanfre at gmail.com>
unabashedly plugged a new newsgroup. Mr. Manfre later waved under
our collective nose a list of supposedly interesting things for sale on
that same newsgroup. He conveniently neglected to mention that one
must join in order to view said list.
Mr. Manfre's motives may be pure as the untrodden snow, yet I find
his methods less than savory -- to be blunt, they smack of spamming --
so I declined. I am not surprised other list menbers declined as well.
Respectfully,
-- Ron
