What you say may be true, but I see no good reason to cease locking doors.
The inconvenience is minor:
If you get Group messages by email... read the Subject line and hit
Delete if you're not interested
If you read the Digests, ship over subjects of no interest.
If you don't want messages, there is no impact.
Sign-In can be a PITA, but you only have to do it very occasiponally,
unless you choose not to allow Cookies.
