Only the very early AILs are manual. The AIL 2075 is fully uP controlled, has
GPIB, and is VERY capable.  It goes well above 1 GHz with the internal mixer and
as high as you like with an external mixer and LO. The AIL noise sources are
quite robust. I've never seen a bad one.

BTW, many of the AIL 75xx's are System Noise Monitors, rather than flexible test
instruments, made to be built into systems
