Hi Glen,
That's good advice about the lamp. As for the counterpoise: It has a wire in 
a square cinfiguration that goes around the bottom of the antenna. They call 
it a counterpoise but my understanding is that it is a 40 meter matching 
device??? I put no radials on it because they said none were necessary!
