Hello to All on the Reflector,
After about two years on the side of the bench, I decided to look at
my old Swan 270B problems. (Purchased it in 1971) Now it was not working at
all. I found the problem on the Receive side, cleaned thoroughly the AF
gain, even had to take it apart, but it fixed the audio and now sounds
great. Then found that R401 was open, replaced it and now transmits great.
So gave it the operating test. Al is great on 20 meters with +100 watts
output. Now for the last problem, Solution?????
I noticed that on the other bands the following occurs,
80 M - Power drops almost instantly to 10 walls after loading.
40 M - Power drops after loading from 60 watts slowly to 20 watts.
15 M - Same as 40 M but with less output around 15 watts.
10 M - did not try yet.
20 M - Operates great as noted.
Looks like a cap is draining when full power is applied. Any comments
as to what component could cause this? I would appreciate comments and
perhaps help in going through a check list as I have tried everything I
knew, is thats not much.
Thanks for any help and comments.
